This is a suggested practice (#2) for the Calendar:
Pulse with the Full and New Moon.
Begin by observing the Moon's cycles, noting when the Full Moon and New Moon occur. Go outside on these days to look at the sky—even in cloudy or rainy weather. What do you see, smell, and sense? Use your calendar or journal to record your observations on these special moon days.
- As you become more attuned, notice the "energy" of Full and New Moon days. How does your body feel? How are animals behaving around you? What about the people you encounter?
- Look up the traditional name of each Full Moon on your calendar. Consider why ancient cultures chose these names. Based on your observations, what would you name this Full Moon?
- Express your creativity with the Moon—create a drawing, dance, or recipe inspired by her energy. Remember, this is your personal practice. If it doesn't feel quite right, there's always next month or next year.
- Connect through your dreams, music, and intentions before sleep. On a New Moon, light a candle, build a fire, or dance—whatever helps you celebrate these monthly celestial events.
- Develop your own mini-ritual for these special moon days. My favorite one is a "Full Moon Cocoa Ceremony"—ask me about it one day.
